We’re Looking For Auburn Hills Residents With Building Construction Experience To Serve

Posted by – Steve Cohen, Director of Community Development

If you work or are retired with experience in building construction … we need you!

Michigan Law requires every community that enforces the State Construction Code to have a Construction Board of Appeals (CBA).  The law also requires the members of the CBA to be qualified with experience or training in the field of construction and codes.  The members of the CBA are appointed by Mayor, with confirmation by the City Council, and hear appeals from the decisions of the Building Official.

Although not required by law, we’re especially interested in finding one or more Auburn Hills residents that are licensed in the building trades (electrical, mechanical, or plumbing), building construction, general contracting, or architecture to serve on this Board.

Don’t worry!  Serving on this Board would not be a demanding time commitment.  The CBA meets on an as-needed basis.  The group last gathered for a hearing in 2004.

If you’re interested in serving as a volunteer in this capacity, please e-mail your credentials to scohen@auburnhills.org.
